The Black Collection - Women's Boots

Courage For Gord Auction

Bidding for The Black Collection Women's Boots starts on Friday Feb 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM EST

Please be sure to read our online auction rules here before placing a bid.

Jeff Churchill is a Toronto-based shoemaker for film, television and theatre. Jeff started his company Jitterbug Boy, a purveyor of high-quality, custom made boots and shoes for the arts twelve years go. His shoes can been seen on stage and screens worldwide.

The inspiration for Gord Downie's boots was the idea of a journey and it was important to include Gord's words in this project, as the poetry of his lyrics have been with Jeff throughout so many stages of his life. The specific words from Ahead By A Century stuck with Jeff as he was first conceiving the project. The writing on the soles was intended to wear away as Gord wore them each night of the tour. These boots would, in a very subtle way, become a record of the journey. They would look completely different after the final performance of the Man Machine Poem tour than they did when Gord first put them on. With every step and every scuff, they would record a bit more of this particular journey - one of a truly inspiring man, sharing his words and music with those he has so inspired.

For The Black Collection auction, Jeff will be recreating a pair of women's boots inspired by the same style he created for Gord Downie - very similar to those pictured here. Again, Gord's lyrics will be etched on the sole, however, the song will be a surprise. They will be sized for the winner.

Courage For Gord Foundation is honoured to be collaborating with Jeff Churchill on this unique project and we're thrilled to be offering such an iconic piece of history to the fans. For more on Jeff Churchill, please visit his website here.

All proceeds will support the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
